Loft ladder hook

Hi,

I was trying to get the loft ladder down and the plastic hook at the end of my pole has snapped off. Where would I get a new pole and hook? It needs to be solid as the on I had was pretty cheap.

Thanks,
C

Get a brass boat hook from a Chandlers and mount it on the pole you have or a broom handle
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
  • Phone the company that made the ladder and ask them! often they will offer to send small parts free as it's not worth the aggro of charging. If it's just the plastic hook, and it can be replaced they might just give it to you.

If not, old broom handle, and any old hook from Bodge and Quit should do it, for a couple of quid. In one house I just used the the actual broom handle, the hook was handy for hanging it up when not needed.

Cup hook screwed into the top of the pole. Slightly more aesthetic than Ormus' suggestion. :D

Always found a bent handle walking stick works far better than the poles supplied. - No fiddling around trying to get a tiny hook in the right place - the handle goes straight over the rungs. You get a better grip overall because the wood is thicker and should you need to nudge the ladder back in to the attic the rubber ferrrule gives a good grip.

Thanks. I will give a few of the extreme MSE methods a go before purchasing anything. :)
