New house, same utility providers?
I get the keys to my new house tomorrow and wanted to know how to negotiate for the best tariffs.
The current providers for gas and electricity are EDF I think and I want to ring them with the meter readings but I don't want to be tied into a contract. Is it possible to signup with them, research other deals and switch if necessary?
Many thanks in advance

You are in a deemed contact from day one with the existing supplier. As soon as you've registered with them you can commence a switch, which takes 4-5 weeks. If you're on the default standard tariff, there is no lock in penalty. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

We were not tied into a contract when we moved into our new house. We just gave our start readings then shopped around for a better deal. Just stayed with the the 1st company til we were sortedTreat other's how you like to be treated.
