Car hire for three months

Hi all... a relative, currently living in Spain is planning on coming over to stay with us for approximately 3 months. She would hopefully like to hire a car for that period of time. Can anyone suggest a good (preferably cheap) company we could use? We are based in South Manchester.

Many thanks in advance

You/They will need to phone and haggle on hire for that length of time. I would imagine daily rates of £30/£40 maybe
a bit excessive. Depends what car they want and what risk they deem them for the insurance.

Tell her to buy one of the English papers in spain - there are (or certainly used to be) long terms deals advertised there.

This query has come up before, and I don't think there's an easy answer.

If you can be bothered, the cheapest way is probably to buy a car in the reasonable expectation you will get most of your money back in three months when you sell it.

I expect it will be cheaper to buy a year's insurance and cancel the policy when she's finished with it.

Edit - just seen Hintza's links above - I don't think you will do any better than that.

Although apex want fully comp insurance, and the other link appears to only offer third party.

I made a mistake in my pricing (too early in the morning) but there are plenty of places that do it it monthly +.
  • Thank you very much to all that replied... buying (and then selling) a cheap run-around may well be the answer

Buy a RHD car in spain, they are peanuts, drive it over and sell it here when done.

    Another good suggestion.

A pal of mine recently returned to the UK after living in Spain.

He was moaning about how little he got for his RHD car before he left.

Just hope the car left the UK legally. I read a report a while back they recovered lots of stolen caravans
and some cars a couple of years back.

Seems its quite a big problem.

At those prices it's probably cheaper to buy an old banger
