can anyone advise?

Hi all, sorry if this is in the wrong place, I'm new to this and still trying to find my way around.

My husband and I seperated a while ago but recently we have been getting on really well and we have decided to give our marriage another try.

He will be moving back in with me in the next two weeks.
At the minute I am a single mum to 4 kids (8,6,3,2) so am claiming Income Support, Child Tax Credits, Child benefit, Housing benefit and Council Tax benefit.

I was wondering if anyone can help or advise on what will change once he does move in here.

I have already spoke to the Jobcentre and the housing about him moving in but they told me to contact them again when he does move in, in two weeks.

My husband doesn't work and has to give his job up after being off sick for almost a year. He currently recieves a War Disbablement pension paid by the Veterens Agency every 4 weeks and is classed as 50% disabled. They contacted him a while ago and said he should be claiming the mobility supplement (for a car) and the Lowered Standard of Occupation as he can no longer work. This cannot be paid at the same time as ESA but is similar to that, only its paid via the Veterens agency.

My husband needs help getting dressed and he can't pick the children up or lean over to changes nappies, do the school run or drive very far etc, but thats something we will need to work around.

I know the housing disregard the war disablement pension here when sorting out housing benefit, but I'm not sure about the Lower Standard of occupation, if or when that does come through.

Does anyone know what the job centre will do?

can anyone help, it would be nice to be prepared in what to do before he moves in.
(if anyone has any knowledge or LSO how long does it take to get a decision?)

As far as tax credits go you will have to tell them the date he moves in and you will be changed from a single to joint claim. You should provide his dla notice of disability and you will be awared the dla element of tax credits.
  • Not a helpful reply in terms of money but, stuff what the jobcentre will do. For far too long this country has aided (financially) the destruction of families.

I tip my hat to you and your husband, any man who has the wherewithall to serve his country deserves the utmost respect. If you both want it to work, it will work. I wish your family all the very best.
  • could an advisor from the royal british legion not help?
