I have lots of sympathy. I have been on the debt free journey for quite a while and doing really well. Then I went to stay with my sister for a few days with the kids as a "free" holiday. I spent a fortune and was mortified when I came home. Its like all my normal principles just went out of the window and I became the person I used to be when I got myself into debt. Very scary. I have managed to recoup a good chunk of the money by selling stuff on ebay and I have really learned a lesson about how easily I can slip back into the old ways.

I suppose there is not a lot you can do except make sure you learn from the experience. At least you have realised now before it got any worse!

I know how you feel we have to be on guard with ourselves ever waking minute. I went to Aldi on friday as was impressed with myself that i only spent £18, then i popped into asda after, cause Aldi didn't have much fresh veg. I then spent £12 in asda, i thought at the time that was a bit expensive. I checked my receipt i'd spent £1.76 on broccoli,ON BROCCOLI!!! I was disgusted with myself. I would never do that if i'd been paying attention.

So don't worry we all have our slips, but just climb back on the horse, i have.

Thnaks for all your replies :) Makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one and at least I realised before it got to much.... Sadly i bought petrol, my glasses (my eyes have got so much worse I need ones to be able to drive safely!!) and £50 on groupon. Nothing I can return sadly.
I get paid tomorrow so I am going to pay it all off and then just have to put up with being skint for the next month :(

    Hi Jojitsu,

I spent £38000 on cards and loans etc before I had my light bulb moment, so don't be too hard on yourself as it's done now and you're going to put it right when you get paid. Learn from this though and move on.

    Good luck

If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

Sounds to Me the Groupon was your worst crime (as you don't need it whatever it is).

Unless you bought new posh frames for your glasses. You do know you can get new lenses gorund in your new precrption to fit your old ones don't you?

Freeze your CC. In water, not expensive unnecessary foodstuffs like icecream that will then have to be thrown out cuz you put your dirty little card there ;-)

I didn't know you could get new lenses in old frames!! I will have to have a look into that! £115 I spent earlier ( get £70 back from health insurance though)
Groupon was a drunken buy of acai berries!! When they come I am going to try and flog them on ebay.
