Have you ever done time? Have you ever experienced what it is like inside nick?
It's awful. Not what the media try to make out its like.
Probably not, so don't assume that he hasn't already suffered enough for his crime.
What a clean bed 3 meals a day tv games. What about the homeless most of them would love that but they dont turn to crime suffered enough uh. To come out and expect all this money its not right. Give the money to the homeless.

and if people just out of prison get no support they may very well turn to crime again.

It is far more expensive to keep a person in prison than to support them on the outside.
Just sold a lawnmower on Ebay.. That's the last time my neighbour will wake me up on a Saturday morning!

that isn't what I implied at all!

Once a person has committed a crime and served time, they are more likely to commit again.

Therefore, to help prevent this, the support needs to be in place.

With a roof over their head, decent clothes and some money in their pocket along with support from their probation officer, the risk of re offending lessens.

Do you not believe in giving people another chance? Have you never done anything wrong, apologised and the person you offended gave you another chance?

That is my last reply on this matter, it is neither constructive or helpful to the OP

Oh, just stop and think about it for a minute, Dave.

Prison has three functions (some people weigh one or other of them more than the others, but it's still three):

    Punishment
    Rehabilitation
    Public Safety

Punishment: once sentence has been served, a prisoner's punishment is over. So they should be entitled to the same welfare benefits anyone else is entitled to. Saying they shouldn't be is like making a child sit on the naughty step for the rest of its life!

Rehabilitation: any rehabilitation done during the prisoner's sentence will be completely undone if they come out and find they're homeless and potless and all safety nets are taken away because they're an ex-con.

Public safety: well, the public is a lot less safe if a homeless, potless ex-con has no means of sustenance other than crime.

You can't come out of prison, get yourself a job and a paypacket BEFORE you have to find somewhere to live and feed yourself.

Until recently I helped run a project providing housing and support for female ex offenders. We only had 30 women on the project.

Some women didn't even know how to pay bills or cook a simple meal because their lives had been so chaotic.

28 of them had had a serious drug problem which is why ended up in prison, shoplifting, robbery etc.

22 of them had experienced sexual abuse as youngsters/teens.

6 of them had experienced severe domestic violence.

Drugs had helped them escape the horror in their lives, only to move into a different realm of powerlessness.

So when you think about people in prison, there are always reasons behind every story.

    Everyone deserves a second chance.

I recommend nacro, and stonham if there is a service in the area.

I have served two spells inside.

One for theft and the other for attempted theft.

I carried out (attempted) the second offence because I had no other choice. I had no support, no home, no food, no money and nobody to care for me.

During the second sentence I had help before I was discharged. I came out and was met by a charity worker, given a flat, furniture and a giro was there waiting there for me from the Social to last for one week. After 6 weeks They found me a job, and I'm still there after 6 years!

So yes every excon needs a helping hand.
There are so many pig ignorant people around just like dave.
So because no one helped you you throw all your toys out of your pram. Grow up and try looking after yourself.
