Morgan Stanley Application??????

Comments

  • Unfortunately, i do not have access to a telephone in order to call customer services, and having tried contacting them by email I found I received no reply.

    I believe one of three things may have occurred, which do you think may be most likely?

    a) My balance transfer was not accepted, or;

    b) My balance transfer has been accepted, but has not been processed yet, or;

    c) I did not provide MS with suffient details at the time of application so they were unable to process the balance transfer.

    Any ideas?
  • On getting home from work yesterday, I had received a letter from Morgan Stanley regarding my card application.

    The first word was Congratulations! So far, so good...

    However, on further reading I found that they had transferred 1741.00 from my MBNA card, leaving a balance of 2241.00 still on that card!

    The MBNA card's interest is going up from 6.9% to around 23% from next month. There is no way I can afford to pay the interest on this card, and was relying upon the Morgan Stanley card, this would have been ideal, and (aside from my mortgage) I would have been debt free by the 2010 date that the promotional rate ended.

    Is there anything I could do? Has anyone ever successfully appealed to have their credit limit more than doubled upon getting a new credit card?

    Ive just been reading about the m&S LOB card, how likely would it be that I could get accepted for that with a credit limit of around 2500 to clear my MBNA card

    Please help!!!
  • H call them ask to speak to the underwriters tell them what you are doing it may help if you are closing the other card to. 0800 028 8990 press hash 3-4 times to skip the interactive voice response system if that numbers busy try 0800 028 0838 this is new ac!!!!! department.
  • Thanks for replying pikingpirate.

    Do you think this is my best option, would it be better to ring or write a letter?

    How likely would it be that they will more than double my credit limit to accomodate the rest of my balance?

    If this were not to work, what would be my chances of been accepted for another card so soon after this application?
  • I would call rather than write they may take a couple of hours to get back to you. the application is underwritten by autoscore no human underwriting at that stage all you are asking is for them to double check. With regard to a new application would try the above failing that without any knowlage of your circumstances I can't really say how successful you would be but if you don't ask you don't get.
  • Ok, thanks again.

    I will try ringing tonight, do you know if the numbers are 24-hour?

    Also, this may sound stupid, but Im not very good with phones!

    Would you begin by saying e.g.

    ' that ive just been accepted for a card with you, and the credit limit is below what I had anticipated, I was looking to clear my MBNA card, and then cancel it. Is there any way you could accomodate the remaining balance on this card?'

    Something along those lines, perhaps?
  • yeah sounds great they may try "you have to wait 6 months" tell them you want to speak to the underwriters though i think they are available till 6:30. Morgan Stanley is crazy busy just now may be an idea to try asap.

    I applied in mid-November and heard nothing until 5 January. I actually rang up MS customer services on the morning of the 4th and, after proceeding through their touch-tone menu system, found a recorded message which stated their applications were being delayed due to unexpected demand, and a request to be patient.

    The letter I received from them on the 5th was requesting proof of ID (due to the fact that I'm living at home with my parents and so presumably don't show up on their systems). I sent that back ASAP and haven't heard anything yet.

    Hopefully it really is just a waiting game at the moment.
    Anything I post here is purely my own personal opinion. As such it may be wrong, poorly worded or written very tongue-in-cheek. Please therefore treat it the same way you should treat anything you read on the internet from an unknown person - with a healthy pinch of salt and scepticism!
