Easy meals for bad cook student?

Has anyone got any really easy recipes that a bad cook can cook? Im a second year student, and am fed up (and cant afford!) of living on takeaways all the time. I eat practically anything, and so some advice and help would be most appreciated!

Not exactly nutritious but the easiest substantial meal you can make:

    1 can of corned beef
    2 cans of baked beans
    1 can of new potatoes

Cook in a pan until corned beef disintegrates, then serve - will feed a houseful of hungry students! (I used to serve with peas, so at least I was trying to eat some veg!)

Don't laugh, it tastes nice!!! :D

  • easy and cheap..

    1 pack of mince..
    3 onions
    2/3 tins of tomatoes
    bit of tom puree
    two oxo cubes
    mixed herbs
    clove or two of garlic

cook of mince in a dry pan.. strain of the fat.. add chopped onion and garlic.. and oxo.. cook till onions are softsh.. add the tomatoes.. bit of water and a tbs of puree.. and herbs.. leave to simmer for ummmmm 1/2 hour.. then cook spagettie.. and enjoy .. plenty there for at least 4 meals..

can use the above and add a tin of kidney beans and some chllie con carni mix.. and you have a great chilli.. put with lots of rice..

very healthy meals.. no artificial stuff added.. and filling.. can put the sauce on jacket potatoes... rice.. or chips..

instead.. of adding the tomatos.. put mixed veg in to the mince..bit more water and another oxo cube so you have more gravy... and serve with rice..

or mash potatos.. and make a shepards pie..

raised my son whilst being a student on various mince meals.... cheap and easy ..

and one pack of mince will last quite a few meals.. so you can eat some and freeze some..

    bethx

Make a huge batch of tomato sauce

    1 onion
    garlic (optional)
    oregano (optional)
    tin of tomatoes

You can then add what you like to it whether it be chopped bacon, sausages, tin of tuna, extra veggies, chicken, (if the budget stretches to it!) and serve with pasta, baked potatoes, nacho's, wedges, rice, mash.

I spent my student days eating tinned ratatouille and baked potatoes with cheese on. Although it came out of a tin, I think nutritionally it was quite good :).
  • If your cooking on your own try this..

    1 chicken breast
    1 tin of baked beans
chilli powder - to taste (I like mine extremely hot)
however many tortilla wraps it takes to fill you up

Cut the chicken into strips & brown in a little oil, When cooked add beans & chilli powder & heat it up.

Warm the tortillas in a magic box for 1 min, then fill.

    Delish!

    Tuna tortilla wraps

    1 med carrot grate
    handful of raisins
    2tsps mayo
2tsps nat yoghurt or do all mayo
    198g tin tuna in brine
    1 or 2 tomatoes chopped
    lettuce leaves shredded
    4 tortillas
mix carrots, raisins with mayo and yoghurt, add tuna , tomatoes and lettuce, put onto tortillas and roll up

tuna can be substituted with ham or chicken, you can use cheese instead of tuna, you can use it on wholemeal rolls or pitta bread or on a baked potato
you can omit the raisins or change the veg, eg chopped celery or red peppers whatever you like
  • get a sandwich maker.. or a formans grill thingy.. you can cook anything in a toasty sandwich.. my fav is tuna and cheese .. with a few leaves of spinach for good measure..
