Scotish Power customers Beware

Hello everyone.
I am a Scotish Power customer on their On line energy award Reward Tariff. Earlier this Month Prompted by the Price Increase I looked on MSE. Which advised a swith to S/P O/L energy saver 14. I Pnoned S/P. They Switched me Straight away. However over the Weekend I received an email from them (the standard one) Advising of the Price Increase and telling me that at the end of July I would be put on their Basic Tariff, advising a switch to O/L E/S 14. It also made reference to a Refund of £105. If I remain on my Original Tarif until this Date, pointing out that switching tariff prior to this will disqualify me from the Refund. So Buyer Beware! I have Phoned to-day and after a great deal of complaining they have promised the Refund but I remain on the New tariff as a Reverse switch isn't possible. I am really angry about this as the person I spoke to, to arrange the Switch, never mentioned this. This Morning the reaction was "Read the Small Print".
Dennis.

  • I too am on Scottish Power 'Online Energy Reward Offer' tariff and have had the same e-mail as dennisthemenace. As I understood my agreement, I am due the £105 discount by having stayed with the duel-fuel tariff until 7th June 2011, whether or not I subsequently switch.
However, the email introduces confusion and uncertainty; 'the £105 will be credited to your account before 1st August 2011 as long as you have remained continuously on the Online Energy Reward product until that date.'
If I switch before 1st August, will the payment be made at a later random date? Or, even, never?

My plan is to give notice in writing to SP on the 29th July 2011, that I will be switching to another supplier and therefore reject any price increase onto their standard tariff.

That will freeze prices and allow the qualifying date for the £105 discount/bonus to be reached before any switch is completed.

On another thread I have asked for the SP Rep to comment that this is acceptable and works and for them to advise to whom the email should be sent?

    Where are you SP? :D

This is the email address I used to give notice - I received a respone the same day. HTH
