Hi everyone, my Candy CDW 254 dishwasher will not drop the tablet into the wash, is there anything I can do myself or do I need an engineer?
Or can I just throw the tablet in the botton of the machine, would this work ? thanks

You could try looking at www.diynot.com - forums > Appliances. There's some very handy DIY tips on this site. They may not have what you're looking for now, but they might have something you need in the future!! I found out how to fix my Creda oven when the element went!I wish I was a glow worm, a glow worm's never glum
Cos how can you be gloomy, when the sun shines out your bum?0 -
I've just found another site that looks useful ... www.keepingupappliances.com
I was actually looking to see where I can get replacement bearings for my washing machine! I might now be able to find out how to replace them myself! (Or get Mr B to do it ...)I wish I was a glow worm, a glow worm's never glum

...........only if you know the exact right time to throw it in ............
We had a similar failure, tried to repair but was unable to, if was quite old so got new unit, then found that on the simple wash we use 99% of the time the tablet door opens within seconds of starting the wash
So could have just chucked it in on the old one
If fact the instructions for the tablets say if you don't use a pre wash - just chuck it in0 -
Bobs correct - jut chuck it in when you shut the door. The little compartment with the opening flap is primarily designed for loose DW powder rather than a tablet.

Sorry - Bob's incorrect..............
If you do that it will be washed away by one of the rinse cycles, long before the hot water starts the actual washing and the detergent is needed !!
You might as well throw the tablet in the bin for all the good it will do...........0 -
Hi folks, thanks for all your replies, I think I am just going to try throwing tablet in the bottom just to see if it works, I really don't want to pay for a repair unless its really necessary. I will let you know if it works0

I appreciate that the manufacturer of the tablets would have a vested interest in us using more tablets than reqd
but ...
"If fact the instructions for the tablets say if you don't use a pre wash - just chuck it in"
I was quoting off the side of a packet of "Fairy All in 1" tablets
OK - actually they said place on top if the cutlery holder
Certainly with the wash we use ( pretty quick one ) you can hear the tablet drop a few seconds ( maybe a minute) after the wash startswashed away by one of the rinse cycles0 -
Well..... I threw the tablet in the bottom as I said and everything came out perfectly clean. Also I have just read the side of my "finish powerball" packet and it says quote..... "For best results in short cycles place finish all in 1 tablet on the floor of your dishwasher next to the filter"
So thats great, no engineer out for me!! :j :j :j
Thanks everyone for your input.0 -
