Hi
I recently got a new laptop and am running Win 7 ( 64 bit) and I.E 8.
I want to use First Direct's Internet banking plus program which I used on my Vista machine without problems. This is a program which manages accounts from several financial institutions and stores log ins etc for those not familiar with it.
However this requires download of an add on...activex which i have only been able to download about once in every 30 tries. I just get locked into a circle of pop up boxes which lead nowhere.
( some conflict somewhere ? )
A couple of times I did actually succeed and was able to proceed to enter all my account details from various companies ( takes ages )
Unfortunately when I finish using the laptop and close it down on reboot the add on has vanished . I have checked "manage add ons menu" and it is no longer there. Can anyone please tell me what is happening and how to fix it.
I also tried I.E9 but the same problem occurs. It has to be I.E as the bank software doesnt work with other browsers such as Firefox etc.
Cheers and thanks in advance

Thanks, I've done all that already. It doesn't solve my problem.0 -
Active X is not supported by the 64-bit version of IE8, it
works fine under the 32-bit version.
click Start>All Programs, and scroll to Internet Explorer, there are
two listed. One of them is defined as 64-bit, the other one works with
ActiveX

Have you tried using another browser?0

Aha
I did not have two versions of IE listed in ALL PROGRAMS as described above and was not permitted to download a 32bit version but.....
after digging around the deepest recesses of the laptop i have found an embedded 32 bit version which seems to have solved the problem. I wont really know until i have turned the laptop off and subsequently rebooted it. cant do that just yet as it is busy downloading updates.
So many thanks again to all who helped.0 -
