Hi feeling rather nervous and sick , got a telephone call with the cccsva at one, with it going to be a joint iva they need to talk to me as well. I just feel so guilty and ashamed we're in debt to the sum of £38 thousand give or take, don't know where it's all come from.Well i do we should have got help ages ago really been living on credit the last few years, made the big mistake of borrowing more money thinking it would help.I just want to say what a lifeline this forum is it helps knowing you are not alone i have been browsing it a fair bit when deciding about an iva so thanks.

    Hi There.
Well done for taking the first step. Everything you are feeling right now is pretty much what everybody else feels at this stage, I know I certainly did!! The fact is you are now doing something positive to tackle the problem and move forward. The phone call will be absolutely fine. They are not there to judge you. Just make sure that you have all the info you need and ask as many questions that come into your head at the time. You need to make absolutely sure that you are making the right decision by embarking on the IVA as it is a long 'relationship' to be in if you're not completely comfortable.
I am sure you will be fine and let us know how you get on! :)
  • You feel exactly the same as I did, and pretty much the same amount of debt as us as well. In my case to make matters worse, I was in Iraq (HM forces) when it all started, so I know how you feel.

The call is daunting, but I can honestly say it will be ok. The main worry as you say is the embarrasement. That soon goes, the professionals on the phone have had to make these calls on hundreds if not thousands of times, so they know how you feel and will be sympathetic. They will talk calmly and won't judge you, no doubt they have seen worse cases than yours. For example look in the papers at Neil Morrisey, it might make you feel a bit better.:)

Good luck for the call, the road to recovery has started!!!!!:T
