iPod Touch Transfer

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could help - I have a voice memo on my iPod Touch 2nd Gen (after buying a mini mic) as part of an Open Uni research project and I need to transfer it to my laptop (Vista).
When I did a trial run, I transferred the practice recording by email. However as the real recording is about an hour long, it's too long to email.
I'm worried about syncing it to my iTunes incase it gets rid of everything on my iPod, including the memo. The only info I've found online seems to suggest clicking on iPod in iTunes, going to music, sync, selected playlists and then include voice memos. Has anyone else done this, or does anyone know if this will definitely put the memo into iTunes? I worry because when I click to sync it says that everything on my iPod will be deleted & replaced with what's in iTunes, and I obviously don't want to lose the recording. I've seen software you can buy but I don't want to go down that route as there should be a logical way of doing it.
Many thanks in advance if anyone can help!

Thanks for your reply OneADay - I managed to get it transferred manually onto iTunes; it did delete everything off my iPod which was quite annoying, but at least the voice memo was put onto iTunes so I'm happy. Thanks again... Just Keep Swimming ...0
