Call Preference Service

Has anybody had any dealings with a junk fone call blocking organisation called 'Call Preference Service'. I appear to have made a recent credit card subscription to this service but they are untraceable on the internet or by telephone. There may be something fraudulent going on. Any clues?

Welcome to the MSE forums speeda59.

More than likely a money-making scam trying to 'trade' on the name of the (free) Telephone Preference Service.

I seem to recall something similar before where, although registration appeared to be free, people suddenly found they'd agreed to pay annual fees and received demands for payment.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Do you have any letters from this organisation? Any evidence that you signed up legitimately? If not, contact your credit card company and ask them to do a 'chargeback' (recalling a fraudulent payment). If necessary, ask to speak to their fraud department who will probably act more quickly than their ordinary customer service people.
