Short term buildings insurance?

We were in the middle of a sale and purchase when the sale fell through. We decided to go ahead with the purchase anyway thinking that we would rent out our current property. We exchange contracts on the purchase tomorrow with completion on Friday.
Obviously I will need to arrange buildings cover for the new property from exchange and I had intended to take landlord insurance on the current property. However, our buyer has now come back (has had a new offer on her property) and wants to proceed with the purchase of our house.
What do I do about insuring the current property until we have sold it? Is there anywhere that will do a policy for a couple of months?

You might get short term cover, or you might do better to get a year's policy but with a company that will refund you if you cancel AND charge zero or low cancellation fee.
Either research the small print very carefully or speak to a broker.0
