Cat insurance which meets particular requirements

I am interested in getting insurance for my cat.

Does anyone know any pet insurance company that covers the following

1. Dental cover - cover dental problem both accident and general teeth problems?
2. cover for life long illness

My ideal monthly fee is around £15.

Also when my cat was thought to be seriously ill it actually turned out to be just a cold etc, do they usually cover this if a vet fee exceeds the minimum amount?

many thanks

Welcome! :) Dental is rarely covered as this is viewed as a maintenance issue like vaccinations, de-flea and wormers. Some vets now recommend raw meaty bones such a chicken wings to help clean teeth naturally, or you can add products such as Plaqueoff to food. The worst offenders for dental decay are carbohydrates (sugars/ grains/ cereals) so it's worth reading the labels of your regular cat food to ensure it doesn't contain these ingredients.

There is a long running sticky on insurance on the Pets board, you may like to read the first few and last few pages; also most insurers have their terms and conditions available online. AFAIK all insurers cover any new lifelong condition, however none will cover a pre-existing condition. Unfortunately you may find all respiratory illnesses are excluded following your cat's viral infection. Some policies will have a fixed pot of money that when it is gone it is gone, whereas others renew the pot each year (AXA, Petplan, Argos highest level). You can claim for any illness including a cold if the vet advised the tests/ treatment and the bill exceeds the excess, but do bear in mind annual premiums are calculated partly on how many claims there have been in your postcode recently, so the more times you claim the more likely your premiums are to rise.
