I too am unhappy with A+L. They let you set up the account and transfer all your payments in, then when you want your O/D matched they give you hoops to jump through that they ommited to reveal during an advisors call, and which are well hidden on their website, so much so when I phoned to complain I'd been mislead even the advisor couldn't find the terms for it. Also their online current account calculator is misleading, it favours the cheapest interest rate account when actually there was no difference. Also misleading is that when you get your welcome pack the recommend a friend voucher is for 25 pounds not 50 as on website. Very Poor, you need to a legal expert to have one of their accounts without being hood-winked. Needless to say I aborted the whole switching process, honesty is not their policy.0

Just found this thread after receiving a good 10 minutes of sales crap while trying to activate my card... I got a good run down whats been going on with fraudulent activity in the news over the past year - child benefits, data being left e.t.c blah blah blah. Quite a pushy guy.
Who would have thought that next time I will be hoping for an automated line when I need to activate my card! This week I'm mostly listening to: Ed Harcourt0 -
Piku there have been a few threads on MSE about this as they do it to all people who ring up to register their cards. Some of their staff have allegedly refused to send out details of the cover when people have said they would like to see this so they can think about it (This is against the regulators rules). The cover they sell is expensive and they do not take no for an answer.
What one poster found was they simply said that they work for a bank and get all the cover A&L were selling free. The salesman immediately shut up and registered the card, if you have problems with them again try this!0 -
The activation calls are not handled by A&L themselves but by Card Protection Plan - who do it for free, for A&L, in exchange for the income they generate. Obviously the staff are very motivated to sell CPP's product.0
