CRA Searches?

Hi
I've received a couple of search alerts within the last six months to indicate HALIFAX BOS-EMC COMPUTER SYSTEMS have searched my Equifax credit file.
I do not bank with Halifax or BOS and am unsure as to why these searches have been made. Previously I tried to track down the reason for the search and who precisely it was generated for etc without success. My wife has no links to these companies either.
The only thing I can think of is that it might be connected to Lloyds TSB. Does anyone know if this would be likely or further information as to why such a search has occurred?

they have linked systems, but have you applied for anything...Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Are they ID enquiries, or credit searches?
Have you, or your partner, opened savings accounts with the AA, Birmingham Midshires, etc?0 -

Two inquiries relate to an additional address and anti money laundering - understandable if I had a relationship with them?
HALIFAX BOS-EMC COMPUTER SYSTEMS , a Bank company, has made an inquiry against your credit report on 18/06/2011 . If you were not aware of or did not consent to this search, contact HALIFAX BOS-EMC COMPUTER SYSTEMS or Equifax for clarification.

That's right.
I had a temporary notice of correction added to my credit file whilst they researched - concluding with no further info. I also contacted HBOS and got given the run round with no department claiming to have any record of my details?
It must be associated with Lloyds that's the only rationale I can apply. There has been no credit search or any product applied for. The searches seem to indicate that I am an existing customer.0 -

A CRA is a Credit Reference Agency, there are 3 of them Experian, Equifax and Call Credit
EMC Computer Systems appear to be a IT company, maybe they are in some way responsible for these ID searches. Maybe they are responsible for the new systems Halifax BOS are getting to bring them in line with Lloyds TSB
I had a search from ATOS IT Solutions, which I did not recognise. Turned out they were part of NS&I when buying extra premium bonds recently.
Why they cannot use names you recognise I don't know0
