Never seen/heard of this before. Just had to try it.
    Samsung F3 500Gb, 4gb ram, E6300, Win764bit, not too shabby. :)

That's a poor time for a raptor, my F1 beat it by a second to login (Q6700 on a NF680)

Not kidding, I just read the post above mine

I'll try it in safe mode, see if I can make a difference :)

EDIT - Just realised I never bothered installing AHCI drivers, only using IDE ones :(

    HiYa PitWallah

Assuming 1st - all [ the O/P's ] drives including the DVD ROM have been pulled as part of the elimination process.

It could be nothing more than the very specific pins the SSD is connected to.

I've known them not work at all / or not work well / on SATA3 / sometimes SATA1 / sometimes .. .. well you get the point. MOBO books do not always give out the right advice reference which port to use.

What revision is the drive on ?, what are other peoples experiences reference the specific port, and how many improved revisions have been released ?

    Get an SSD!!
By far and away the best upgrade I have ever done, including a new machine.

This is the one I have
    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/225804

There are much faster write speeds available but the C300 had some great reviews (which I can substantiate).

Prior to this drive opening MS Word 2010 took an age looking at those wavy lines, now the splash screen just flashes (less than a second) and I am typing away.

There is no waiting after those boot times above, all Start Menu is up and running, all AV ect. running.

The only problem is the space (only 64GB) so if I install a decent game and want the quick load times I have to clear out the "old game" first.
Of course you can always install to a slave drive but you get the standard loading times.

Swap file is on a slave SATA drive too to reduce write cycles on the SSD.

    - not shameful, just the norm. If it works out of the box - good
    - we only go looking for a solution when we have identified the problem
    - and you had no problems

As regards the SSD EEprom revision I was alluding to the O/P's, not your's mate - I should have made that clearer

My point on SSD's is some MOBO's [ not the SSD itself ] are very fussy which header works best.

Ah NP, I'll still have to rebuid thePC, any faster responses I can get whilst playing BC2, and MW are always good. Although BT is still poo I'll haveto look if interleaving is setup to cure my random DC's :(
