That's three people this week think pensions are a bad idea, I will still keep contributing to mine as I don't plan to claim jobseekers....0

He said it wasn't worth having a pension. But generally you have stopped working once you are drawing. So you wouldn't be getting Jobseekers?
.
You might've taken early retirement and get a pension, in which case it would affect even contributions based JSA, as has been said above. It happened to me.0 -
IF YOU HAVE A PENSION AND LOSE YOUR JOB ANY PENSION YOU DRAW COMES OFF YOUR JOBSEEKERS ALLOWANCE SO YOU ARE PAYNG YOUR OWN DOLE WHERE AS IF YOU COME TO THE UK WITH NOTHING HAVE NOT PUT ANYTHING INTO THIS POT YOU ARE GOING TO GET THE FULL JOBSEEKERS .YOU MIGHT AS WELL PUT THE MONEY UNDER THE MATTRESS AS SAVE FOR A RAINY DAY IN A P[ENSION:mad:
great idea ..... if your idea of retirement is to live on whatever handout the state chooses to give you - generally the minimum it calculates you need to survive - and then have to worry about future cuts to that benefit etc, as well as how you'll pay the gas bill in the winter.
not for me thanks, better to put some aside in a pension so that i can enjoy my old age slightly more, nice holidays in the sun or even choose to live abroad. you need to make the right choice about a pension now in order to have any choice about anything when you're retired.:beer:0 -
I read it as:-
You contribute to a pension and draw it.
You carry on working, paying due NI but you are then effectively precluded form claiming contribution based JSA.
On the basis JSA is taxable that is fair enough, but perhaps your NI should be reduced if you are not now able to claim the full range of benefits."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

i was made redundent i am 56 years old i do not and cannot afford to retire i want to work but as this country is ageist jobs are hard to come by my point is you get more from the system if you put nothing in thanyou do if you have to draw your pension dont forget i put it there because it was a food idea at the time .in hindsight i should have put my money under the mattress0

we are not all ageist..
I employed someone who was 59 when i took him on.... he works his butt off, and puts alot of youngsters to shame..... I dont care how old you are, what colour you are what sex you are, as long as you can do the job...so please dont do the ageist thing, maybe you are not looking outside what jobs you know...Work to live= not live to work0 -
I'm sorry Scampi, but with posts written like this you would never get past a paper sift, never mind to an interview. I guess you must be in a hurry!
No offence intended.0 -

I'll be number four then. I want to be in control of my cash when I retire and not reliant on an investment company telling me how much I can have.0 -
I've been asked by a friend of the OP to make another similar post:
ITS NO USE HAVING A RICH UNCLE OR DOING THE LOTTERY COS IF UNCLE DIES AND LEAVES YOU £1M OR WIN £1M ON THE LOTTERY YOUR JSA IS STOPPED. GO TELL YOUR UNCLE TO STUFF HIMSELF AND TAKE YOU OUT OF THE WILL.
As someone once said, you cannot legislate for stupidity.0 -

So, how does that stop you having a pension?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
