Why would you be drawing a pension while living on jobseeker's?

If you put your life savings pensions fund under the mattress, do remember you need to disclose it when making benefits claims :)

Why? He's correct. JSA is reduced is you are drawing a pension, even contribution based JSA. There is a disregard, which I think is £50pw for contribution based JSA and around £10pw for income based.

So that still means "its [sic] not worth haveing [sic] have [sic] a pension" ?

I don't even know where to start.

The annoying thing about this forum is it doesn't quote the full PP ie including the previously quoted context. I was referring to the bit quoted by the PP. ie
IF YOU HAVE A PENSION AND LOSE YOUR JOB ANY PENSION YOU DRAW COMES OFF YOUR JOBSEEKERS ALLOWANCE"
which is perfectly true (subject to the disregards as I said above).

He said it wasn't worth having a pension. But generally you have stopped working once you are drawing. So you wouldn't be getting Jobseekers?

Or are we just saying pensions aren't good for 'double dippers'? Ie those collecting a pesion while still working.

the DHS can't take into acct a pension pot that isn't being drawn on if I am not mistaken, but they can take into account everything else incl the money under your mattress. If they know about it and the local burglar doens't.

If giving a pension a miss, perhaps you could instead invest in a new keyboard with a functioning caps lock key :D

I imagine Job Seeker's takes any income in account - why should a pension be any different?
