What lead have I bought?

Hi I have just bought a PC monitor lead, at the car boot sale, and now I've got it home realise it has one male and one female end. It is completely useless for what I want it for and was wondering what it could be used for.

TIA

    An extension?
  • Hi,

is it like one of these?
  • It's an extension lead. I have seen one or two monitors that came with a built in lead with a VGA plug on the end. In other words, they could plug straight in to the computer - no other lead was required. If you needed more distance, you could use the lead you bought. Also, if you already had a working setup, but wanted to move the monitor away from the console, you could add this lead, rather than buying a new, long lead.

Yes very similar but not quite.

Thanks I have now got the right info to Google and have found this which is near enough what I bought. I wouldn't mind but, I really wanted a printer cable but went 'brain dead' when I was at the carboot sale. Still it's long enough to skip with and as kwikbreaks suggests I could use it to tie up the kids.

    Thanks for the help

I should warn you that tying up the kids with a computer cable is in breach of the EU WEEE Directive :)
