Cursor keys??

Can someone please help me, I'm using a laptop, on Windows Vista and my cursor keys aren't working tidy, I think our kitten has walked over the keyboard and messed something up.
When I open up MSE forums and scroll down it jumps to the bottom of the page, when I then scroll up I have a cursor flashing on each board of MSE. Same on other forums I use. I have tried the settings on Vista and on Firefox with no luck.
