I'm getting married in Scotland as we all know the weather can be unpredictable. I'm thinking about hiring/buying umbrellas. my question is what is everyone else doing should it pour on the day.

I didn't even know you could hire umbrellas.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
You could get some nice 'birdcage' transparent ones for you and bridesmaids - leave the rest loo afterr themsleves.
Or perhaps awhite one for yourself - saw some nice ones at Ascot last week - they ony need to be cheap. There are large ones on ebay for £9.99 with free p&p - and some cheaper.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -
Cry !!!!!
No really, we've got a whole reception thing going on outside so we'll just move everything insiede the marquee0 -
I bought myself a transparent umbrella with some lace around the bottome from my local market- but I did really love these and nearly bought them...

I still might for bridesmaids, as it looks like rain all day this Saturday....boooo...so much for having a barbeque in England in June. Who says it has to be sunny in Summer?!!0 -
I had an ivory edwardian parasol/umbrella just incase. Didn't need it on the day though as the weather was glorious for October!

Yeah, some white/cream/transparent brollies on hand might be a good idea! My wedding is in September, so it could easily be glorious or a total downpour!
Depending on how much it matters that they match, you could probably get a few from local markets/pound-stores or just a bunch off ebay.
If budget is a problem, look after the wedding party first, let the guests look after themselves (you could remind guests of the unpredictable weather in the invite-pack, if you're worried they'll forget)
Besides, a cheery multi-coloured brolly photo could be a lovely unique wedding memento!Life on a shoestring!0 -
The huge golfing type umbrella sold on gumtree/ebay can be really overpowering especially if you've a large wedding group using them.
Lisbeth Dahl do a beautiful range of wedding umbrellas in pastel colours and tkmaxx have had a stock of them recently.
Primark have fabulous red and white polka dot traditional style umbrellas at present.
I work part time as a wedding photographer and supplied a wedding party on a very exclusive island venue with lisbeth dahl umbrellas and lost 2 of them to guests and a drunk bridesmaid. I had to follow a very posh gentleman and take my umbrella from him before he boarded the ferry.
Supplying umbrellas is something i try not to do now as it's crazy to juggle equipment and umbrellas.
Be careful of venues or car hire companies providing their own umbrellas with logos as it really dominates the photos.0 -
I am getting married in Scotland too and just hoping for the best, I reckon all this bad weather is so I can't possibly get and stupid tan lines and that all the nice weather has been saved for my wedding (well it gives me a reason to think all the rain has been worth it!)
Our whole day is in the one location. Our photographer has some brollies he is going to bring along for photos although I am reluctant to go outside if it rains as my dress will get even more dirty. There are places inside for photos is we have to. I have started to plan for rain so I am not disappointed, I don't really mind too much if it does, I would just like it to hold off until after the photos.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1931.07/£2700

I'm hoping that we can have the photos outside and It doesn't rain as the auturn colours of the trees will look fab in photos. I'm thinking of just a few umbellas just for the wedding party as all except the bridal car still have to walk outside from the car park to the house . will look on e*** and the like.:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120
