DIY loft insulation - what to buy and where to buy it?

I'm keen to insulate my loft myself. I investigated having it done by British Gas on one of the grant schemes, but they would only insulate using sprayed in insulation which meant I wouldn't be able to have any storage space in the loft (and also raised concerns to me about how easy it would be to remove if we wanted to convert our loft in a few years time).
So, instead, I'm thinking that we will use 100mm roll plus ready made insulation backed loft boards in about 1/2 the loft in order to create a storage space, and then either 200mm or two layers of 100mm insulation elsewhere (perhaps more). So, my question is, where is the cheapest place to buy insulation at the moment, and what are other users recommending as to products? DIY and Homebase seems to stock much the same things, and pretty much all by Knauf, but B&Q haven't had any of their better value products in stock for months now, so I'm keen to find other options. I have trade cards to places like Travis Perkins, so happy to buy trade if this will save money, though I suspect that with the grants, domestic might work out better? Also happy to buy the loft roll and loft boards for different suppliers.
All ideas welcome!
