Oh now I understand what you mean now in your OP about "won't accept commands such as 1".

Hope you've got your important files backed up before this occurred. It's happened in the past that I was able to access user documents by repairing the partition table, but ultimately I reinstalled that computer anyway.

I'm sure stilltheone will be able to help.

okay ,machine is licensed ,but if you do a repair with sp 2 as i only know this as i had sp 3 and reverted back to sp2 and I could not but in my licence key as it had an old version of ie ,so i had to copy from other comptuter then do safe mode without going online ,long stroy really but that si why i am reluctand to do a repair install of sp 2 .i should of kept sp 3 all along .
