How long should the powerpack last?

 I am on my 3rd powerpack for my laptop. I have had the laptop for a year, and it was bought secondhand with the proviso that the battery was weak and it would always need to be hooked up to power at all times I was using it.
However, I have needed to buy 3 separate powerpacks...all compatible voltage...so I know I have got that bit right....but I am surprised that it is getting through so many powerpacks!
Any advice?

The power pack should ideally outlast the life of the laptop.0

My laptop is 32 months old and the original battery is at 94% health. Either you are buying duff batteries or you are abusing them in some way.
Have a look at this:

Are you buying cheapo 'compatible' power supplies, or the genuine ones as sold by the manufacturer?[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -
Er, now I've looked at the post again I'm a bit confused - are we talking batteries or power supplies here? If its the power supply it needs to be rated for the total power (Voltage and Current). If the power supplies are going pop all the time most likely you'll need one that can handle more current.0
