I usually alternate the iams flavours, but will have a look at royal canin if i can get to a pets at home. In terms of stuff i can buy from a supermarket (purina, whiskers, tesco/asda/sainsbury own, or iams) would iams be the best option or are there any others. Sometimes it is just convenient to get them from the supermarket. I did notice today in sainsbury they have 2 boxes of classis for £5 so may get some.
His paw definately seems better and no blood seen now, so i let him out this eve and he looks a much happier boy!
Oh..i actually really like activia yoghurts flavour more than other yoghurts which i mainly why i eat them but try to wait for them to be on offer. They do seem to improve some symptoms of my 'IBS', even if it is a placebo i am happy!
I don't ever recommend Royal Canin, because they are one of the only premium brands (if not the only) who do not divulge the meat content, but obviously that is your choice.
If you are in Sainsburys their own brand Encore is identical to Applaws, however in Tesco and Asda IAMS is the highest meat AFAIK. If it's convenient to get IAMS then do so - if you can pick up a higher meat food shortly afterwards you can always mix the two. HOWEVER be aware that swapping between a high meat and a high grain food *may* set off stomach upsets because different enzymes are required to break down each.
If you have IBS then studies have proven two supplements to be beneficial, and I have also had positive reports from my own nutrition clients. These are: high potency freeze-dried probiotics :T and long chain omega-3s from fish body oils (NOT cod liver oil) as these have powerful anti-inflammatory properties. Official recommendations is a minimum of three portions of oily fish per week, this equates to to around 1g+ per day EPA/ DHA (the omega-3s in fish oil).
The probiotics should work within a week or two, the fish oils may well take longer as they have to be 'built in' to the lining of the gut and hormones over a period of time. If you are on any other medication or health condition please check with your GP, but generally they are delighted their patients are supplementing omega-3 as they have so many health benefits. If you want to have the Activia as well because you enjoy it, go ahead!
