Once your DD is setup you should recieve a letter about it. Basically it just says thankyou for choosing to pay by DD, the bank account details you opted for the DD to be setup, DD originator ID number, and ref number.

    It also says the following:

'You'll need to keep making your payments as usual until you see a message on your statement saying 'what and when to pay'. This will confirm that the direct debit has been set up.'

Even though you don't have that letter, I believe you DD is set up, as it says the amount and when to pay (i.e. due date).

If you have more questions, you can email them using Barclaycard online banking - click on the 'contact us' link.

Hope that helps you even more. :)

For reassurance purposes, I also contacted them by using the 'contact us' link on the Barclaycard online banking about the DD stuff. They said:

    Thank you for contacting Barclaycard.

I can confirm that the direct debit facility has been set up for your account to take the full amount due. Your next payment will be taken by direct debit on the xx/xx/2011. The direct debit is always collected on the payment due date only and it gets credited to your Barclaycard account on the same day and hence you will not be late. However the process of collecting funds from your bank account starts around 5 working days prior to the payment due date.

I trust this information is of assistance.

Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Kind regards

I guess I was wrong about the amount being taken a few days before the due date. :o Sorry.

Well thats even more confusing since my date does not fall on payment due date.

However the last line states that the process starts about 5 working days before?

I think no matter what the answer is, the direct debit is set up, and the payment will be taken from your bank account.
  • Tried the online message service, pretty good actually. Got a reply at 11pm tonight, the guy confimed payment date is correct and to make a manual payment this month. Simply check your next statements. Might set up a DD now for my Gold card.

Looks like their reply to me is different to yours as we have different issues with DD.

    Glad you got it sorted.
