book review

not sure if this is the right place but here goes..
when i was in 4th and 5th year of high school (1986/87) i wrote a series of book reviews on several books that were written about a teenage boy and girl living and growing up in Northern Ireland. 1 was catholic and the other protestant. the books were about the trouble and violence they faced from family and friends in their comunity, during their teenage years and their relationship.
can anyone remember these books? who wrote them. are they still available..
please tell me i am not going mad lol
was talking to DD(15) about english exams and its been driving me nuts as can't recall the books or the author.
it is sad i can't remember the details but i do recall standing up in class and giving a very passionate speech about love, religion, etc

  • Not sure if these are what you are looking for but maybe you're thinking of the Noughts and Crosses series by Malorie Blackman? Think these probably came out later than what you say though they are very similar by the sound of your description, hope this helps :)

We read those at school and I enjoyed them.

I recently bought them for my eldest (14) to read, as he's a not a Catholic but attends a Catholic school and I thought it would give him a good perspective on how lucky they are that they can all mix and get on well together in school.
Here I go again on my own....
  • Wow! I remember those, thanks for reminding me about them.
  • thank you :)

I've got copies of these in a box in my loft - they were great stories. I keep meaning to go up and sort my books when I have time, but I know that when I do, I'll bring loads down to read again......and the Kevin and Sadie stories will be among those for re-reading!
