Good quality kitchen appliances

We're having a new kitchen installed and need the full set of appliances (built-in oven and hob, freestanding fridge-freezer, and washing machine), and have no idea what brands are good quality and value.
Our installer has a contract with Neff which we were planning to go with, but having just read a thread about them being overpriced, I'm not so sure now. Don't mind paying a bit more for quality but don't want to get ripped off.
Any suggestions?

Neff is a good make, as is Bosch & Miele, but quite expensive. Definitely shop around for prices. We bought all our appliances online from boots appliances and got advantage points too!0

I have a Miele washing machine and tumble dryer, and when my dishwasher needs replacing, I won't consider anything but a Miele. In my opinion you can't buy better, and they quite often have extra terms on their warranties at no extra charge.0

we went for John Lewis appliances.0

AEG also very good. Have just revamped their whole range and now much more stylish Biggest oven capacity on the market if you do alot of dinner parties etc..
Miele deffo the best but you pay through the nose for them.
Neff are basically Bosch but stylish, you pay for the style but the innards are the same. John Lewis are also Bosch I believe.
All good stuff really, but do think that Neff is overpriced for what it is underneath. You might as well just buy Bosch and save the money.0 -
We went for Bosch when we replaced the kitchen just over 6 years ago, not a single problem with anything so we are very pleased with that decision, we bought a great looking Italian cooker at the same time it was a pig, let me down two Christmas's on the trot I bought a Cannon to replace it. We have a large upright Bosch freezer which we bought well over 10 years ago and it's still going strong. DD just bought appliances for her new house, she bought a Fagor washer Dryer (Spanish) a New World Oven and Grill and a Baumatic Hob and Extractor all seem well fisished and the kitchen fitter was happy to put them in no adverse comments LOL... Her budget was not up to Miele or Bosch they are a little on the expensive side.0

Neff cooker is still going strong, might have been expensive but it was 10 years ago we had it, d/washer is a bosch, washer is a zanussi i think, fridge and freezer were from iceland over 10 years and nothing major has gone wrong in the 10 years, if you have an iceland shop nearby then maybe check them out plus you could get shopping doen at same time and get it delivered0

Basically, go German: Miele, Bosch, Siemens, Neff. A washing machine engineer told me recently that Bosch aren't quite what they were a few years ago in terms of quality or components but I'm not sure how true that is.
We have a Miele washer and dishwasher - they build their appliances to last 20 years and to back this up they apparently stock parts for them for 20 years too. Our Miele washing machine is bomb proof - I think it is made of cast iron! We bought ours off eBay (MoneySaving!) and we love them.0 -

So now we have everything from Siemens, and it certainly looks the part. The combi microwave was very expensive in my view.
My comment is the 'German' bit. I checked all the packaging of our appliances. The expensive microwave? Made in UK ! The hob? Spain I think. The oven was made in Germany and I cant remember the dishwasher.
It's a funny mixed up old world, and I suspect there is a lot more commonality than the manufacturers would want you to think.0 -
One always pays a bit more for branding but that branding is also a reasonable guarantee of quality. Does that mean expensive branded things do not go wrong - hell no, they do, but the possibilty of these goods failing is smaller.
We deal an awful lot in Neff appliances and a lot of them are made in the same BSH factories as Siemens and Bosch and features added or taken out depending on relative positioning of the brand. Its a bit like the VW group and every product they offer at their price level is good value.
We have looked at other manufacturers and apart from the BSH group and found Miele as a very good albeit expensive option. I am sure there are cheaper appliances that are probably good value as well, but one needs to factor in intangibles likes customer service etc and on this factor alone I think BSH and Miele are far ahead of the competition.
A lot of John Lewis appliances are rebadged Electrolux/AEG products.
BSH make their appliances all over Europe with factories in UK, Spain, France, Poland, Turkey and of course Germany. It doesn't matter where its made - they are all engineered in Germany. We’ve had to remove your signature.
