The Difference Between Dispute in Ebay and Dispute in Paypal?

Not particularly experienced with ebay, more a buyer than a seller, and recently opened a dispute in ebay for an item not received (cheap item, 99p plus £1.49 postage, seller didn't refund so had to open case).
I didn't really realise until reading on here that disputes could be opened in either ebay or paypal, and don't know what the difference is, and if there is any benefit of one over the other?
I am 6 days into my dispute now, and still no refund, I believe I have to wait 10 days in ebay before I can escalate (and am hoping that is simple to do, as never had to do it before so not a clue how!).
If anyone could enlighten me on the difference that would be great!

The difference for INR is that Paypal are rigid and clear in their timescales and rules, Ebay are not. If you have a dispute open you cannot change it to the other platform. You will have to wait it out and do what is required.0

Also never open a dispute in ebay for item not as described if you have left positive feedback or you will lose the case like i did.0

I've also opened a dispute in ebay recently, and perhaps there is less difference than there used to be.
Shortly after I opened my ebay case, I got the following email:Action Required from you after 10 days:
If the seller does not solve your issue or you do not hear from them in the next 10 days you should go to the
Resolution Centre and choose the "Escalate" option. We can then resolve the issue for you.
In nearly all cases either the seller will fix your problem or if we find in your favour, we will refund your money within 14 days from today.0 -

So the timescales are actually quite similar, since I believe with a Paypal dispute, the seller gets 10 days to respond to a claim anyway(?)
Always do a paypal dispute. Only time not to is if the item is fake as that is the only time ebay are better.
I think like this I've payed via paypal so it makes sense for any dispute to go with my means of payment rather than dispute through a 3rd party (which ebay are)'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'

Recently, i've tried disputing through Paypal (twice) and they re-directed me right back to Ebay!0

Yes they do. But what I think masonic is trying to say, is that you can only have ONE case opened. So if it is an Ebay case open you cannot change to a paypal case.0 -
Yep, same here Thrifymanc. In fact my last few disputes have all been redirected back to Ebay.I thought this was now the norm and basically a new system they were using! :-/0
