my dh is taking a masters degree currently - it is modular and he has passed the 1st part which means he now has Postgraduate certificate in project management.

He has recently had a one to one tutorial with his course tutor who was very helpful in telling my husband that he could up his mark from a pass to a distinction by sticking to the learning outcomes
( these are in the module descriptor) and to reference every statement or non-original thought and to include fewer references from webbased information and to try referencing more books, journals, essays etc.
it may be that your sons tutor HAS informed him of this, but he hasn't taken the information on board -as everyone has said, it isn't the quantity of work produced, but the quality which will enhance his marks

    hope this helps
