I have a credit card with Halifax and until 2 years ago I was paying PPI on it. I was under the impression that this was a compulsory insurance due to the way that the bank clerk put the fear of God into me if I didn't take it. When I hit financial difficulty 2 years ago I called the CC department and asked if I could end the insurance as it's bumping my bill up and they ended the policy for me. I have now been keeping up with the latest news that a lot of policies were mis-sold and I believe that mine was as like I said; the blank clerk was very pushy that I must have the policy.

Does this sound like mis-selling to you? I would like to take the bull my the horns and give it a go but I don't want to waste everyone's time if I am being daft and the policy was valid. The whole process seems very daunting to me.

Hi there, look here for reasons for mis sell if any/all apply to you then put a claim in.

Going by that list then yes. Thank you :)

Like I say, I am just so daunted by the process. I need to get my account details etc and make my appeal.

    Best get started then!!

Good luck, and remember to keep copies of everything as well.

Normally they have 8 weeks, but may request for more time, as they have a backlog, yet again they may still get round to it by or before then, fingers crossed.;)

  • Don't worry about posting, and don't worry about feeling a little daunted - that's totally natural! As other posters have said, make sure the reason(s) for mis-sell are clear in your mind and use the excellent templates. My OH was worried sick about starting his PPI claims, but after some gentle persuasion from me, excellent advice here and a dose of curage he took the plunge and filled out the templates. Of the four PPI complaints lodged, one has settled (Egg) whilst another came through this morning for NRAM (we're checking the offer over). Another two to go and he's there!

    Good luck :)

Thanks so much for your encouragement. I have started filling out as much as of the questionnaire as I can for now. I need to get the policy number from the bank. I have also started the letter to obtain the insurance charges but I am a little bit confused as it says account number but I am pretty sure that I have only had a long card number rather than account number. When I lost my card, I am sure I got a new long number. Would they be able to trace it just by that?

Thanks Di. I promise I am usually a bright, high functioning and able human being. Having a baby stopped all that and now I have mush for brains. *rolls eyes*

  • Hi nikki_angel - if you have a card number, rather than an account number, don't stress - I'd simply state 'card number xxxxx' in the appropriate questionnaire section. You're giving them as much information as you can, in order to help them locate your details and process your complaint as quickly as possible. There is a section at the back where you can list the section and explain why you've said something, or provide more detail, if you need it. Good luck! :)
