hi all
looking at a 3kw pv solar system on a south facing roof,i have done some homework and wold like somefeed back from folks who have a system in place.
what i would like to see is what size system folks have and on a monthly basis how much the feed in cheque is
a mate has just installed a 3kw sanyo panel system on same house as mine but only had 2 weeks ( he loves it)
and looking for folks that have had there system a while and (hopefully none) any problems
also had a guy quoting canadian panels that work well in low light ,any one used these what they like

Loads of posts on here and the web where people give their monthly outputs.
The first factor that influences your output is where you live in UK. If you live in Northern Scotland you might generate less than 2,000kWh a year from your 3kWp system. If you live in West Cornwall you could get slightly more than 3,000kWh pa. Middle UK might give 2,500kWh.
No point in asking what monthly cheques for FITs might be as in June you could generate four times as much as January.0 -

Hi
Starting point ...... http://re.jrc.ec.europa.eu/pvgis/apps4/pvest.php ..... it'll give you a decent idea of what you're looking for, just multiply the estimate (kWh) by the FiT+Assumed export ....

Half my family are from South Shields .
You can do a load of research but most of us on here with panels will tell you that you'll need at least ten years to payback your investment. That's assuming you get a decent price on a 4kWp array and have an unshaded south facing roof.
Personally I'd say for a 3kWp array that far north you'd be safer assuming fifteen years payback, and only proceed if you're happy with that, and are pretty sure you'll be staying in your house for that long. After that, you'd have ten years of profit (you get paid for 25 years).
Note I reckon you'd pay it off a few years inside of fifteen, but it's better to plan "worst case" in my opinion.
Check out http://www.uksolarcasestudy.co.uk/ for costs and performances of some systems that aren't that far from you.

great thanks that casestudy was spot on
looking at it as a rough guide from that a 3k might bring in around a grand a year.
so if i go with a quote i have £9.2k then if nothing goes wrong or breaks down in the next 10 years i could be all square _party_
then again pigs might be able to fly by then and that cow might just jump over that moon :rotfl:0 -
