MetroBank tell me that there are 0 charges for using their credit card abroad but, to-date, I havent tested this. Has anyone any experience of using this card abroad?

I've not seen anyone admit to having their credit card, but many of us have their current account and can attest to the fact that it does offer completely fee-free withdrawals at the Mastercard interbank exchange rate.
Reading the terms of the credit card, it's very similar to the Halifax Clarity - same interest rate for everything (13% vs 12.9%) and no fees for cash withdrawals. It seems to imply that you need their current account to apply anyway.0 -

Ditto, re: their Mastercard debit card on their current account,
plus has the big advantage that being a MASTERCARD DEBIT CARD
you can use it in Lidl in France for purchases of wine (and the other things Lidl sells) so don't have to use your French account.0
