Oh lisyloo, where were you last night when I needed you?

You brought the dice up, personally I find it easier to play cards when I'm driving.

In a vain attempt to help you and spiderman understand some basic mathematics. With hindsight, it would have been easier to explain the plot of Inception to my mother.

I assumed the dice was related to how the premiums were set.
    Well not related, more multiplied.
As to inception, was was the plot again?

I do get basic mathematics, my issue was around the premise. I think a degree therein from a good university shows I can do Maths.

My point was you can't necessarily assume the die is fair if all evidence points to a differing option.

A lot of people speed on the roads, I imagine the vast majority, maybe insurers shouldn't load for SP30s as they will only attract the people who haven't been unlucky enough to get caught.

My dad has an SP30, adding him to my insurance reduces it by a 100 quid even though we live at different addresses and he's highly unlikely ever to drive my car. Maybe my insurance company are already working on this philosphy, caught once and will drive more safely in future?

Thank you all for cheering me up. I was feeling quite angry that our not at fault accident now included a claim penalty but after reading this thread about interpretations of probability I have almost forgotten why I was searching.I think it shows that we need more people with an understanding of mathematical probability in insurance rather than a literal experience of the word probably. I was going to suggest that the events should be reduced from 6 to 2 by explaining a coin toss and the probabability of it being heads or tails (even after 10000 tosses) but then I remembered that it could land on it's edge.
