Countersigning a Passport Application (Accountant?)

Hi,
I have been asked to countersign someones passport application - I am an Accountant MAAT (AAT qualified) does anyone know if I can do it?
I always thought you had to be chartered - but now i'm not sure?

Hi Minnie,
I too am also part of the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) and unfortunately you need to be a qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA etc) in order to countersign such documents. HTH0 -
Have a look at the form. I think it has been widened to say any professional person holding a current British passport. I think you would be fine to counter sign it.0

I used to have MAAT after my name (stopped paying the subscription after a year or so as I couldn't see the point in paying for letters that don't have any use!) but I did sign a couple of passport applications in that time - there were no problems with doing it.0
