money owed to me

I recently applied for car finance for a second hand car, i was told this had been approved and the garge told me i have to pay for the car tax. i paid the garage to tax the car, however at the last minnute the finance was declined and the garage told me that they would buy the tax off me or they will give me the money back and they will claim from dvla but i would have my money by monday. However monday comes and i hear nothing so when i phoned them they told me it was my problem not theres and i would have to claim it back from dvla, when i told them that i cant as im not the registered keeper they said neither are we. They also still have the tax disc, please can someone advise me as im £100 out of pocket
thanks

Why cant the garage just send the disk back to DVLA for a refund, And give you the difference, As you wont get the full £100 back i think.
  • hi thanks for the reply, i have asked them to do that but all they keep saying is its not there problem there must be something i could do or somewhere to complain as i am getting no where with them

Is it an independant garage or a national one with a head-office to contact & complain to?

So who is the registered keeper?

Maybe you could stand outside their car lot on their busiest day and explain to every potential customer about their ways? They will soon make it their business then!

Have you got anything in writing from the garage about the tax?
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
  • i would of thought that the garage would be the registered keeper, they are an independent garage. Yes lol i was thinking of giving them some bad publicity. feel like they have conned me big time

were they sorting the finance or were you getting it elsewhere yourself?
if you were getting it they are probably piqued that they held a car for you and now you dont want it so they have nicked your wuner for messing them about
if finance was via them then they have stolen your money on false pretences and i would make an official complaint to the boys in blue and if no joy try and get a letter in the local rag with you being shown looking desolate and out of pocket with their sales court in the background
    tell them first though;)
  • hi, they were sorting out the car finance through there company, have nothing in writing only a receipt from the garage for what i paid for the tax. would i get anywhere with the police ids it classed as theft then
