Rant !! Viewing No-Shows

Sat here seething (again!) another viewing no-show - just changed estate agents and this is the first viewing with them - Mrs and I spent all morning cleaning up (have messy son with puppy he bought - great timing I know but that's another story).
I took the dog out ready for them coming and they don't show up - you know what; I would never do it - even if I hated the place I'd at least have the courtesy to go in OR at the very least ring the EA and let them know.
I'm getting paranoid - had a few of these with the last EA and funnily enough they were perfect buyers nothing to sell and when they didn't show they'd re-book but they never did - one of the reasons I sacked that agent - ? Is it a ploy ? I dunno

Is there any reason you can think of? Messy street? Unwelcoming neighbours? I feel for you, must be so frustrating. We have just bought and ended up going round a few we didn't like, I would never have not turned up!0

I've just stood in the rain outside someone's house for 15 minutes waiting to be let in for a viewing. It's not just buyers that are no-shows!!Getting married 02.08.14
Wins for the wedding: membership for a 'wedsite' and app, £35 gift voucher for party supplies shop, £50 worth of hand painted signs, 1kg of heart shaped marshmallows :money:0 -
It's just pig ignorant is my opinion, in this day and age when we have mobile phone technology,
I would ask the agent why dont they ring the viewers a couple of hours before the viewing is booked whether its still on.
Doesnt take much effort or cost does it. It would save an awful lot of Angst all round.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

We are in a busy area not far from a main road but even so it costs nothing to let us know its not for them.0 -
I had two appointments on one street about a year ago, I was viewing both, but they were 90 minutes apart, the best times the vendors would agree to.
My hubby really didnt like the look of the second one from the outside, and we did feel we were wasting their time and ours by hanging around for over an hour, and we did feel like leaving. We couldnt have rung the agency though, as they were not open.
In the end we waited and went in, as we didn't want to be rude. nor did we want to knock and say, sorry, it isn't what we expected... So we did the tour but it was a waste of time for all of us really.....
It is annoying if they dont show up but perhaps if they have showed up and not liked something about the area/outside, then it isnt a bad thing if they drive off, esp if they cannot contact the agent...and keeping the house clean, at least the housework is done...we tend to leave ours in a decent condition every day when on the market, in case the agency calls in with anyone.0 -

This Estate Agent is supposed to be doing the viewings but he wanted us to do this one as he had a full schedule (?!) I don't think he thought it was a very promising viewing as the lady hasn't sold! (I'm not bothering people yet until I get an offer on mine - someday:o) BUT we were happy to show her round if she'd bothered coming.0 -

Yes but its Saturday 1.00pm the EA shop is open and phones manned even on Sundays - one of the reasons I chose this particular agent - its still annoying they can't at least phone.
Re housework... I only wish I could keep mine like this!! But with dog bringing half the garden in and eating everything in sight its a major clean up every time - yes I know get rid of son and dog...If Only!!!0 -
You could do viewings only when the EA is open so that people can ring up and cancel via them.
You're selling your house so you will need to keep it spick and span all the time. Hard work if you have a muddy dog.0 -
It's a sad fact of life that some people just have no manners.
Console yourself with the thought that you wouldn't want to sell to someone like that anyway. If they don't have the courtesy to attend or cancel viewings, imagine what they would be like through the whole buying process. Dealing with respectful people makes life so much easier.0 -
A year ago I was viewing with my son who was house hunting. The second viewing was on the same street as the first, but about an hour and a half later. Other viewings were a few hours later. We parked in town and fed the meter again after the first viewing. At the allotted time we approached the house and spoke to the "vendor" who was still pottering outside, as he had been when we passed on the earlier viewing. He told us that he had contacted the EA to cancel our viewing (my son had not been informed). Feeling very cross, we went straight to the EA to complain that he hadn't relayed the cancellation. The vendor had not contacted him, ( and by his manner I believed him).
I noticed recently that the house is back on the market!0
