Where can I legally download free PC driving games?

Can anyone recommend a site where free games, such as driving games, can be downloaded free, safely and legally? I would like games compatible with Windows 7 (my laptop has an i3 processor, integrated graphics and 3GB RAM).

also try need for speed world, it is a free online racer, loads of players.

for FPS the best is quake live again 100% free.

Thanks, I have downloaded and installed this and I like it. I connected a PS2 controller using a USB adapter to control it. I'd like to play my girlfriend using her laptop, so I guess I could set up online profiles and do it through that. Plenty to try later.

I managed to set up Trackmania online playing but then it wouldn't let me continue as I apparently have to watch races before I can play again(?!) or upgrade and pay $40. Is there a way just to play my girlfriend on the local network? (home wi-fi)

I think in NFS:W you can invite your friend into private races, not sure it's been a while since I played it.
