    i would certainly lift the vinyl up and investigate. it could be a water leak/damp problem?
    if its just an expansion problem, then trimming the HB at the edges may cure it.

    ditra matting for 300 quid, would be twice as much as my total costs of my diy floor!

    keystone - yep your dead right. the wooden floor needs to be free from deflection - thats the main reason why i added the link to 'full details' as it covers all that. i was assuming, perhaps wrongly that as the floor had been plyed already that this prep had been done.

    the point i was trying to make is that a backer board is going to be better that ditra in this case (and most!).

    and re: adhesive - none of the fixers i know use the NMP adhesive, they just use gripfill or pinkgrip :-)

    Ahh I see where you are coming from.

    Except when there is horizontal movement of the substrate to be expected but, of course, that is what Ditra is for.

    SPF for me - I don't like any voids at all!
