Kindle - Transferring books

Apologies if this has been asked before, but couldn't find it on a search.

My wife and daughter have both purchased 3G Kindles. Unfortunately they registered them with Amazon separately.

They both have similar tastes in books and wanted to be able to access each others purchased and downloaded books.

Had they registered both Kindles on the same account, then it would be possible without problem; however Amazon wont let an already registered Kindle to be included on another account.

1. Is it possible to download books from one Kindle onto a PC and then transferred from PC to the other Kindle?

OR

2. Can a Kindle be 'de-registered' with Amazon and re-registered on the other account.

OR

3. Is there any other method of getting downloaded books on Daughter's Kindle to her mother's Kindle - and vice versa.

Thanks

    I've been Money Tipped!
Bumping this as I came on to ask the very same question....

OH and I both have Kindles - want to share a couple of books but have always used the 1-click system to buy from Amazon so don't have them on the PC hard drive.

Any help in how to share books (other than physically swapping Kindles) would be really appreciated.

    Thanks

Hi, give Calibre a try http://calibre-ebook.com/

You use it to manage your e-book library and is compatible with many ebook readers including the Kindle
I installed it for my Uncle who has a Kindle and is really pleased with it. The beauty of Calibre is that free books downloaded from the Web can be placed into the Calibre library, converted, and loaded on to the device.

Cannot see any reason why you can not use it with two devices.

Be aware that 'Free' books downloaded to the device from Amazon 3G incur a download charge but downloaded from other sources are free (not so sure if downloaded via wireless from Amazon also include this charge ).

    Good luck

There is no charge to download Free books to your Kindle over whispernet, if there was I would have noticed by now.

Amazon have started a book sharing scheme in the US, dont know whether this will be available in the UK.

Apart from that you would need to have both Kindles on the same account.

You can do this on the Amazon website.

    Hope this helps.

As others have said give Calibre a try http://calibre-ebook.com/
Connect one kindle, drop the book(s) in to calibre; convert it to mobi if required then load it onto the other kindle.

The problem is my wife and daughter registered their Kindles with an Amazon account separately.

As said in opening post, when my daughter tried to register her mother's Kindle on her own account, it came up with an error message - 'Kindle already registered to another account' - and it couldn't be registered.

Ok are you trying to download the same books that either your wife or your daughter have paid for to two separate kindles? If you are you've just hit the problem with DRM (which only punishes valid customers and is the reason I don't buy ebooks from amazon) as you wont be able to do this from your amazon accounts, use calibre as detailed above.
