Savoy Grill - honesty is the best policy

Options
I was lucky enough to be taken to the Savoy Grill for a birthday treat. We were having the pre-theatre menu which is £30 a head. We had a fantastic meal with amazing service and the bill was presented swiftly at the end of the meal to allow us to get away to our theatre performance. The bill seemed really fantastic value and we paid happily and whisked off. The next morning I realised that the bill couldn't possibly be correct after factoring in the cost of the wines and extras we had drunk and eaten. On rechecking the bill we found we had not been charged for any food apart from one side dish.

As we had had such a great time I asked dh to ring and pay for the food as it felt dishonest not to. The lady who answered the phone was very apologetic and said that it would be wholly inappropriate to take payment for the meal and she hoped that we would save it and return at a later date to eat with them again.

A five star meal with five star customer service:T
