Hi everyone - thanks for sharing
My plans are getting a bit more complex as with the nice evenings and with eldest getting a bit older so staying awake longer, I am having to adjust meal times. She is playing outside from after her tea at about 4:30 until 6:45 which is just before her current bedtime at 7pm (athough we read until around 7:30.) We are going to move her bedtime to 8pm instead, and ask her to come in at about 7:30 to give her a bit longer running around. So it makes sense to let her have plenty to eat at 4pm rather than a snack, and then allow her the choice to come in and eat with us at 6:15 for dinner time too (baby will probably eat equal portions at each meal.)
I am trying to stick to £20 a week on the supermarket shop so here is us for this week:
Breakfasts:
- Fortified oats cooked with oat milk, with dates, almonds and walnuts
- or, Oatcakes with date and walnut butter
- or, HM muesli with oat milk
All followed by slice of 50/50 - toasted or not - with olive oil spread
Glass of fruit juice + oat milk/tea/coffee, and a banana for DH
Lunches:
Me - salads with nuts, or hummus, or avocado + 'cheese' with dark rye crispbreads or oatcakes
DH + DDs - Sandwiches with PB+J, or choc spread + flaked almonds, or hummus, or 'beef' slices; carrot sticks; dried or fresh fruit; soya yoghurt
Sundays we have a big lunch (this week 'beef' slices, veg, roast pots and gravy, with hm ice cream for afters) , then sandwiches/on toast + cake/biscuit for tea, and no dinner - just popcorn, or crudites + hummus for supper.
Girls' Teas (4pm):
- Beans/scrambled tofu/veggie ravioli/tomato sauce + 'cheese' on toast,
- or, Veggie burgers/veggie fingers/'omelette' with jackets,
- or, pasta with veggies, nuts/tofu and EV olive oil,
- or any meal portions which have been made and previousy frozen such as cottage pies, lasagne, etc
All followed by hm ice cream in cones or custard pots
Dinners (6:15pm):
Sat - Tofu Oat Balls with stir fried vegetables
Mon - Ratatouille, omelette, salad and wholemeal roll with olive oil spread
Tue - Pizza (wholemeal subs as base) topped with tomato sauce and hummus, with salad or veg.
Wed - Sweet Potato Bake (with courgette, tomato, onion and 'cheese' sauce) with salad
Thu - Veg tagine or curry with broad bean pilau
Fri - Aduki, Kidney and Black Bean Chilli with rice
Suppers:
DDs - Little Oaty Biscuits with a cup of oat milk at about 7:30
DH and me - Oatcakes with yeast extract, or a naughty square of dark choc. With cup of warm nutmeggy oat milk or plain cold oat milk.Love and compassion to all x0 -
Really need to keep a lid on the spending, and have lots in the freezers and cupboards. We go on holiday in two weeks and I dont intend spending any more than £20 until then, but will need to buy veg and cold meat for sandwiches. We get milk delivered so wont need to buy that.
Menus are as follows
Sunday b) Boiled Eggs and toast (l) HM soup and HM bread (d)HM fish pie and broccolli, Strawberries, Meringue and cream
Monday b) Cereal (l) HAm Sandwiches, yogurt and apple (d) Meatballs and spaghetti
Tuesday: (b) Toast and yogurt (l) Dads for Lunch (hubby will get egg and cheese sandwiches)(d) Chicken, Roast potatoes, carrots
Wednesday (b) Cereal (l)cheese and tomato roll, yogurt, banana (d) Omolette, chips and peas
Thursday (b) Toast and yogurt (l) Dads for lunch (hubby will get Ham and tomato sandwiches)(d) HM Soup and Bread, followed by Rhubarb crumble and custard.
Friday (b) cereal (l) HM soup and Bread (d)HM Meat Loaf, new potatoes, peas and Carrots
Keeping to the above means I will only have to buy 3 onions, broccolli, carrots, 2 bananas, new potatoes, 1 loaf bread, and pack of ham - so hopefully this will mean a spend of less that £8.
I will do baking for the snacks, and there are crisps etc in the cuboards for hubbys piece box.
Definately meal planning means that you can make sure that there is variety in the week and a good structure to what nourishment and vitamins etc everyone is getting.Every days a School day!0 -

Hi all. This is my fifth straight week of menu planning and it's going really well so I thought I'd start posting on here.
This week's theme is "Use It Up!" as I counted about 80 main meal portions in the freezer and cupboards this morning
So: lunches and dinners
Mon - HM tomato and red pepper soup and roll
- Belly pork, veg and lentils
Tues - Chicken salad
- HM Chili and rice/pasta
Wed - Bacon omelette
- HM Stew and veg
Thurs - Sardine salad
- Sausages, mushrooms and beans
Fri - Crackers, pate, cup-a-soup
- Cod, veg, cheese sauce
Sat - HM mushroom soup and roll
- Bacon, mac and cheese
Sun - Tuna mayo roll
- Roast pork and veg
Breakfasts - HM yoghurt, fruit from garden, pancakes from freezer
A lot of the fruit and veg comes from the garden. Shouldn't have to shop at all this week.

Some lovely looking mealplans this week. I particularly like the sound of the Okonomiyake. Anyway, here's my mealplan for this week:
Monday - Chicken Balti with Rice & Naan
Tuesday - Spanish Omelette with Wholegrain bread and butter
Wednesday - Not sure
Thursday - Toad in the Hole with beans
Friday - Steak Sandwich with Fajita Mushrooms, Onion rings & Salad
Saturday - BBQ chicken skewers with HM potato salad (kind of a potato salad/coleslaw mix I'm giving a try)
Sunday - Pastitsio with Garlic Bread.
Lunches are sandwiches or leftovers. When the oven is on on Thursday night for the toad, I'll be making either a carrot or a banana cake depending on whether I've got bananas left that need using up. Otherwise there is fruit to snack on, and I shall probably bake some more flapjacks later in the week when the oven is on again for the Pastitsio. Thanks for starting the thread.
