The great thing about Asdas APG IS....

I haven't yet had the chance to use APG as there are NO local stores until the 29th! I have carefully read their ts & cs today though to try and familiarise myself with them.
As it uses mysupermarket, I find that when own brands are selected all other stores come up as NA in the results. I wonder why the APG results includes them if mysupermarket doesn't?! Weird!
Yes the mySupermarket website does produce some 'weird' results. If, for axample, you are 'in ASDA' it will tell you that Sainsbury's does not have a comparable product to its Smartprice Tuna Chunks in Brine, but Tescos do. However if you switch to Sainsbury's you will find that their 'Basics Tuna Chunks in Brine' does have a comparable product in ASDA. And there are a number of products where you get similar comparability glitches. However (a lot of the time at least) it's not a problem with the actual underlying mySupermarket data, just a problem with the way that data is displayed by the mySupermarket website, so the glitches don't actually effect the APG.jumblejack wrote: »If the value range does compare then that's pretty cool!If anyone is using the price guarantee to their advantage, please share.
Well I know that for example that the following compare versus Tesco:
ASDA Smartprice Tuna Chunks in Brine (185g)
ASDA Smartprice Sweetcorn (326g)
ASDA Smartprice Red Kidney Beans in Water (400g)
ASDA Smartprice Sliced Carrots in Water (300g)
ASDA Smartprice Salted Butter (250g)
ASDA Real Mayonnaise (750ml)
ASDA Smartprice Rich Tea Biscuits (300g)
ASDA Smartprice Pure Orange Juice from Concentrate (1L)
ASDA standard own brand baked beans, marmalade, jam, dishwasher salt, rinse aid, mineral water also compare.
Incidentally, as far as ASDA Smartprice Rich Tea Biscuits are concerned, those naughty boys and girls from Walmart have recently jacked the price up from 24p to 40p, which is a massive 66% price increase, whereas Tesco are still charging the 24p. For the moment at least.jumblejack wrote: »It really has been largely overlooked and ignored by MSE as a whole.
Well I think that the problem is that with Tesco's DTD you could get free stuff. With Tesco's Finest-Meal-Deal-Turner-Road glitch you could get free food. That's exciting. Getting 10% off the price of a tin of baked beans isn't exciting. But as far as I'm concerned, 'Every Little Helps', if you see what I mean.0 -
I know it does not compare with the dtd offer. Boy, I miss that.
Asdas promise is far more sensible and solid. It is nice to be guaranteed to have your shopping at the lowest possible price in any of the majors with an extra 10% of your money back to boot.
The reason I've been using tescos JTD so savvily (I'm sure that ain't a real word but it should be!) is because I can get Asdas prices matched in tescos but without using all the extra petrol to get there. I am really chuffed that we are having a local one soon.
Tesco will still see me at whoopsy time and when i am doing a penny gold rush.:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

Not sure where you got the 95p extra part from.
Isn't it Asda promise to be 10% cheaper, so if it's £7.85 in Tesco's, to keep within their promise they should have it for £7.07?
So £17.40 - £7.07 would give you £10.33 back...an extra 78p? (or even 79p, depending when they round up/down.)
A £10.33 voucher, but you have already forked out £9.55 of this.
So 78p for buying 40 cans of beans...& don't forget the other 7 items that have to be bought at the same time. Better in your pocket though I suppose if that's what you want to do & it's certainly worth keeping APG in mind if you shop there anyway.0 -
It kinda makes your head buzz but the bottom line is the cheapest possible way to buy those beans would be at tescos at less than 20p a can due to the multi buy. If you buy at Asdas you are shaving EVEN MORE off the price which in my book is win win! You are getting the equivalent of roughly another 4 cans for free on top.
As I bulk buy on offers, I am pretty chuffed that this offer will still be on when my local Asda opens on Wednesday.:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A
