Thanks, just picked up 2 from Bury and left one still on display - the product code is 341 598 if anyone wants to ring first to see if they are in stock.

Anyone know of a place where I can buy one of these at a reasonable price. The cheapest I have found was at Woolworth at 14.99 but they are out of stock. I am struggling to find a retailer on the web.

Anyone any ideas? I have become quite concerned with the latest deaths in Corfu of those poor children and I think it high time we purchased one of these as our appliance is quite old now.

    Thanks in advance.

They're not cheap (but why risk it anyway?) even on ebay.

The cheapest I've found is £17 delivered (HERE).

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Thanks for the reminder on this one. We bought our CM detector several years ago off a British Gas engineer who was servicing our boiler for about £25 and it started beeping the other day. At first I didn't want to ring the number on the unit to be charged through the nose for aother one at another £25 but fair play to them, they checked their database and saw that it was within the 5 year warranty period and a new one FOC should be winging it's way too me now and all I had to do was pack the old one up and sent it to a Freepost address.
