It looks like a different face of the rag traders who leave charity and private collection bags through your letterbox.0 -
We used them earlier in the year as part of our church fundraising. Although the scheme worked well, personally I was a bit disappointed with the money it raised - a mere £159. An awful lot of work for very little reward.0

I guess £550 for a whole TONNE of clothing, you might want to cherry pick it for secondhand sales first - at around a fiver for a sackful it doesn't take much to be more profitable by sorting and selling in the UK than to the secondhand market in the Ukraine.0

Loving the use of the word 'eco' in their name.
I cant see anything terribly eco friendly about transferring clothes halfway across Europe!0 -
Five minutes of internet digging...
from a door-to-door collections license application, East Northamptonshire
http://www.east-northamptonshire.gov.uk/downloads/Item_5_b__-_House_to_House_Collection_-_Unicare_Ltd.pdf2.0 Concerns
2.1 A letter was sent to Unicare Ltd. requesting further financial information. An e-mail
was received giving figures for six collection days. However, the application is for
three collection periods but the e-mail lists five days which have not been applied for.
2.2 The applicant stated that six other authorities have been applied to for collection
licences for them to collect on behalf of this charity. Should the intended donation
come from only six collections the expenses may be considered to be reasonable.
However, the donation of £6,000 as a set sum donation is from proceeds from all
national collections from up to 70 other licensing authorities in England. The figures
supplied show a percentage donation of 80% from the six collections within East
Northamptonshire Council area only. It is therefore considered that the donation
appears to be unacceptably low taking into account other collections. The costs as
supplied are also significantly high at around 87%.
2.3 The collection bag states that the bag and contents belong to Retexa. It is not clear
who this company is.

I sort of regret asking now. I was only really checking that they paid up when promised.
On the Up your income board, people are selling their clother for 40-50p per tonne whilst eco kids will pay 55 or 60p.
If parents are looking to clear -out clothes then this does seem a good option. No denying they are a business but none of us are prepared to staff a car boot sale stall and deal with hagglers over a dress for a pound.
But I will forward allcomments to the headteacher before deciding.0 -
