My SP electricity standing charge going up by 83.06%, yes 83.06%

I put that in the thread title in case any of the media are looking in.

It just isn't true that, as (say) the BBC reported, SP electricity bills are rising "by 10%". I wish.

And I can't do anything to reduce the standing charge so will have to try to switch.

YouGov: £50 and £50 and £5 Amazon voucher received;
PPI successfully reclaimed: £7,575.32 (Lloyds TSB plc); £3,803.52 (Egg card); £3,109.88 (Egg loans)

  • Hi,

    yes, but your price per unit didn't change, as you mentioned in your other thread, you would be cheaper on the Premier Plus Monthly Direct Debit Plan, if you're quick, you may be able to get locked in at the old prices.
  • Everyone with an SP account needs to a keep an eye on the ' Daily Service Charge ' too, mine was :

    - Jan 2011 - 18.4
    - Mar 2011 - 26.4
    - Aug 2011 - 30.5 [ proposed ]

    That's a quiet £44pa with none of the increase reflected in kWh unit costs.

    How much was the sanding charge, and how much is the proposed daily standing charge?

    Or is it a tier one charge which is going up? If so, could you confirm that there's no change in the number of units tier one applies to each quarter?
