Hand drawn sketches

Hi,
my other half is currently trying to make a bit of extra money doing hand drawn sketches. He is an artist and is very good at what he does. He has had 3 people who have had a sketch done.
I was wondering, apart from the people who he works with, how else could he get people interested? He has set up a facebook page and is currently in the process of uploading pictures of his work.
Do any of you have any other ideas of how he can get more work.
Thanks for any help that you can give.

Artists shops and art galleries may work on some sort of commission basis. Get local paper involved, if its slow news day it may work0

I know someone that draws dogs from photos, Shih Tzu in particular and does it through Facebook and word of mouth. A friend had a portrait of her pup done, posted about it and thats how I heard, then the artist sent me details about charges and regularly posts pics of her latest drawings and clients. Hi, thanks for both of your replies.
We have just set up a FB page and we are currently in the process of getting his work uploaded.
He has done 3 sketches so far, for people who he works with. He is hoping a few more people will want pictures now they have seen what he has done. And you have given us a good positive on the whole FB idea, glad to see that it has worked for somebody elseJanuary GC £33/200

http://www.facebook.com/EnglandSITT try this the theory is they have a march day i.e. a day when new businesses lists in the comments box and all the other new businesses go and like the pages bringing on a pyramid affect getting out to hundreds of people.
step one : sign in to Fb and like S.I.T.T.
wait on them notifying you of a "march" day
list your business in the comments box of that march notification
go in after the "add to list" closing time and "like" all the other businesses and in turn they will "like" you.
keep updating your pictures, writing comments etc and that way you keep popping up!

If there's any artists fairs where you live, he could have a stall there or something?0

Could also try doing a few generic sketches and selling them on somewhere like etsy.com.
Once this is set up you could offer custom drawn sketches as well.
Best of luckSometimes it seems that just when I think I have reached rock bottom, someone hands me a shovel.0 -

Many thanks to everyone who has taken the time to reply and help us
We have got a lot of different ideas we can try now.
I have also posted up a notice on Netmums website, it is free and hopefully somebody will take a look.
We have set up our FB page and have uploaded some of his work. He has got two weeks off now. So he is going to get a few more sketches done to build up his portfolio. I have also ordered some business cards and we are waiting for them to arrive through the post. We are getting our parents to mention it to people who they work with too. We can them give them a business card to take a look at our page. So hopefully things should take off a little now.
Thanks again to everyone. And if anybody else has any different ideas, please share with usJanuary GC £33/200
